What They Don’t Tell You About Being a Survivor is a podcast that focuses on life after a traumatic event/experience. The podcast seeks to empower survivors and help people know they are not alone in what they are going through. The types of traumas discussed are not limited to a specific type of trauma.
Purpose
A place where victims/survivors can help create community through sharing what society does not speak of—life after trauma. Through empowering victims/survivors we help those who are suffering to know they are not alone, and those who cause harm to know the weight of their actions.
Goals
To empower victims/survivors (from any traumatic experience/event) through support and providing a safe place to freely speak. To help foster a social change where victims/survivors know they are not alone in their healing journey. To help create a place where people can learn about the side of trauma many choose to ignore.
Safety
We know that safety is critical for many survivors. The podcast will be audio-only, and victims/survivors can use a different name. Victims/survivors can also submit their story through a letter, and someone else will read it. We are also seeking victims/survivors from multiple areas this will reduce the risk of people knowing who is sharing.
